Adirondack Honey & Maple Harvest Fair 2027

Honey Fair · October 15–17, 2027 · Lake Placid, New York

Lake Placid — the Adirondack Olympic Village at 1,800 feet elevation on Mirror Lake — sits in the heart of the six-million-acre Adirondack Park, where the boreal-hardwood forest transition zone creates one of New York's most distinctive and underappreciated honey landscapes. The Olympic region's basswood, wild raspberry, goldenrod, aster, and boreal wildflower forage produces honeys with a northern forest character quite different from the pastoral honeys of the Hudson Valley or Long Island — darker, more aromatic, and marked by the wild quality of the Adirondack backcountry. This late-October fair celebrates the honey and maple harvest traditions that have sustained Adirondack communities since the earliest European settlement of the North Country, featuring a regional honey competition with classes for Adirondack forest wildflower, goldenrod, and basswood honey entries, educational demonstrations of traditional hollow-log and early box hive beekeeping practices once used throughout the Adirondacks, tastings pairing Adirondack honeys with local maple syrups from the surrounding Essex and Franklin county sugarhouses, artisan honey and beeswax candle vendors from across the North Country, and workshops on cold-climate colony management for beekeepers facing the Adirondacks' severe winter conditions.
