Batesville White River Honey & Ozark Heritage Festival 2031

Honey Festival · May 10–11, 2031 · Batesville, Arkansas

Batesville — the Independence County seat on the White River in north-central Arkansas — occupies the southern edge of the Ozark Plateau where the upland forests transition to the Arkansas River lowlands, giving local beekeepers access to a diverse range of black locust, tulip poplar, white clover, basswood, pawpaw, redbud, and native wildflower forage from the White River bluffs, Strawberry River drainage, and Ozark National Forest upland communities. This May festival at the Batesville Community Center celebrates Independence County's beekeeping traditions alongside the city's role as a center of Ozark culture and White River recreation, featuring honey from producers across the White River valley, guided tours of local apiaries working with Ozark Forest Service land, educational presentations on the ecology of the Ozark Plateau's unique cave and karst systems and their relationship to surface pollinator communities, and demonstrations of traditional Ozark honey harvesting and processing methods.
