Honey Festival · June 18–19, 2027 · Berea, Kentucky
Berea — Kentucky's renowned arts-and-crafts capital at the foot of the Appalachian Plateau — hosts an annual celebration of the Commonwealth's extraordinary varietal honeys and the Appalachian beekeeping traditions that produce them. Kentucky stands apart in the American honey landscape for its access to some of the East's most prized varietals: sourwood honey from the eastern mountain coves, tulip poplar honey from the ridge-and-valley hardwood forests, black locust honey from the Eastern Kentucky Knobs, and white clover honey from the world-famous Bluegrass Region. The festival features a Kentucky varietal honey tasting bar comparing Appalachian, Bluegrass, and Pennyroyal honey characters, Appalachian log-hive and skep restoration demonstrations, Kentucky mead and bourbon-honey pairing events, artisan beeswax and honey product craft market, and educational sessions on supporting Kentucky's 3,000+ registered beekeepers.
