Honey Festival · August 20–21, 2027 · Cedar Falls, Iowa
Cedar Falls and the Cedar Valley region of northeast Iowa celebrate the end of the summer honey-flow season with a community festival honoring the prairie wildflower plants that define Iowa's honey character. Iowa's diverse agricultural landscape supports some of the Midwest's finest honey: sweet clover honey from the grain-farm plains and roadsides, basswood honey from the hardwood river corridors, alfalfa honey from northeast Iowa's dairy country, and prairie wildflower honey from the University of Northern Iowa's restored Tallgrass Prairie. The festival features Iowa beekeeper honey vendor stalls, Iowa State University Extension beekeeping workshops, prairie pollinator garden plant sales, honey wine and mead tastings, a kids' beeswax candle-rolling station, and a corn-to-honey journey demonstration exploring how Iowa's crops and apiaries interrelate.
