Honey Festival · August 8–9, 2026 · Cody, Wyoming
The Bighorn Basin of northwestern Wyoming — a high desert basin ringed by the Bighorn Mountains, the Absaroka Range, and the Owl Creek Mountains — is one of Wyoming's most productive honey territories, where vast stretches of sage, sweet clover, alfalfa, and the extraordinary sweetvetch stands of the Shoshone River canyon support beekeeping operations that have thrived alongside the Basin's ranching culture for over a century. Cody, established by Buffalo Bill Cody in 1896 at the eastern gateway to Yellowstone, hosts this August festival at Cody Rodeo Grounds, combining a Wyoming honey competition, live cowboy poetry, ranch heritage exhibits, and an apiary tour to a working Bighorn Basin honey operation on the Shoshone River bottom. Honey pairings with Wyoming beef jerky, Dutch oven biscuits with sage honey, and mead from the region's craft producers celebrate the Basin's distinctive honey character.
