This January festival at the Western Folklife Center celebrates Elko's honey heritage alongside the Cowboy Poetry Gathering tradition, with honey producers from across Elko, Lander, and Eureka counties, competitive honey shows featuring rare Ruby Mountains alpine wildflower, alfalfa, desert wildflower, and rabbitbrush varietal honeys, guided tastings exploring the extraordinary flavor complexity of high-altitude Great Basin honey, and educational programs connecting Nevada ranching and beekeeping traditions that have coexisted on the high-desert range for over a century.
