Georgia Sourwood Honey & Mountain Heritage Fair

Honey Fair · August 8–9, 2027 · Helen, Georgia

The Georgia Sourwood Honey & Mountain Heritage Fair in the North Georgia mountains celebrates what many consider America's finest varietal honey: sourwood from the Appalachian forests of northeastern Georgia. Sourwood trees bloom in July and August, and Georgia's Blue Ridge beekeepers chase the bloom to produce a honey prized for its anise-like complexity, light amber color, and exceptional resistance to crystallization. The fair features sourwood honey competitions, guided forest apiary tours, heritage crafts including woodenware making and basket weaving, and regional Appalachian music. Visitors can meet beekeepers from Habersham, White, Rabun, and Towns counties—home to Georgia's finest sourwood country.
