Milwaukee River District Honey & Urban Pollinator Festival 2027

Honey Festival · July 24–25, 2027 · Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee — Milwaukee County’s great industrial and cultural city on Lake Michigan, Wisconsin’s largest city where the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic rivers converge in a metropolitan area that has emerged as one of the Midwest’s most vibrant urban beekeeping communities, with rooftop apiaries, community garden hives, and urban beekeeper collectives producing distinctive basswood, linden, sweet clover, and urban wildflower honey from the city’s parks, boulevards, and lakefront green spaces — hosts this July urban honey and pollinator festival along the RiverWalk. Milwaukee’s urban honey landscape is shaped by the city’s extraordinary network of boulevard linden (basswood) trees — planted throughout Milwaukee’s historic neighborhoods in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries — that produce the prized linden-basswood varietal in midsummer, supplemented by sweet clover from the city’s post-industrial green spaces, goldenrod from Lakeshore State Park, and the diverse urban wildflowers of Milwaukee’s growing community apiary movement. The festival features Milwaukee County urban beekeepers presenting linden, basswood, and urban wildflower varietal honeys from rooftop and community garden apiaries; educational programs from the Milwaukee Beekeeping Society on urban hive management; guided RiverWalk pollinator garden tours; artisan vendors featuring Milwaukee craft mead, honey beer from local breweries, and urban bee products; family programs on lakefront pollinator habitat; and demonstrations of urban honey extraction from Milwaukee’s historic neighborhood apiaries.
