Beekeeping Class · July 11–12, 2027 · Starkville, Mississippi
Mississippi State University Extension Service partners with the Mississippi Beekeepers Association to deliver this intensive two-day summer short course designed for beginning and intermediate beekeepers in the Deep South. Held at MSU's apiary research facility in Starkville, the course covers Mississippi's unique beekeeping challenges including summer dearth management, small hive beetle control, extreme heat colony care, and maximizing fall tallow tree and goldenrod nectar flows. Mississippi's distinctive varietal honeys — gallberry, tallow tree, and tupelo-influenced Gulf Coast wildflower — are featured in a guided tasting led by certified honey judges from the Mississippi Beekeepers Association.
