Honey Festival · August 16–17, 2033 · North Conway, New Hampshire
North Conway — gateway to the White Mountains and the Mount Washington Valley — anchors Carroll County's extraordinary honey landscape where New Hampshire's highest peaks create distinct ecological zones supporting diverse honey plants from valley floor to alpine transition. Basswood (Tilia americana) from the hardwood forests of the lower Mt. Washington Valley provides the region's most prized honey: harvested in July when linden trees bloom throughout the North Conway valley, it produces a pale amber honey with the characteristic minty undertones beloved by White Mountain beekeepers. Wild raspberry (Rubus idaeus) from forest edges, clearcuts, and ski trail margins provides an earlier June flow of delicate light honey. Apple blossom from the historic orchards along Route 16 and the Saco River valley contributes in May. White Dutch clover from valley pastures and roadside margins carries through summer. Goldenrod from mountain meadows and the alpine transition zones of the Presidential Range closes the season in September. The Mount Washington Observatory — host to the world's highest surface wind speed ever recorded (231 mph in 1934) — dominates the skyline above this festival's setting. Carroll County Beekeepers Association is one of New Hampshire's most active county organizations. The festival at North Conway's Schouler Park celebrates the intersection of outdoor adventure culture, White Mountain heritage, and New Hampshire's exceptional honey traditions.
