Northern Illinois Beekeepers Annual Fall Convention 2027

Beekeeping Conference · November 5–6, 2027 · Rockford, Illinois

Northern Illinois's beekeeping community gathers in Rockford each autumn as the goldenrod and aster bloom concludes the region's honey season and beekeepers prepare colonies for the long Prairie State winter. Illinois produces distinctive Midwest varietal honeys shaped by its diverse landscapes: basswood and linden honey from the hardwood forest remnants, sweet clover and alfalfa honey from the agricultural heartland, buckwheat honey from specialty grain farms, and urban wildflower honey from Chicago-area community gardens and forest preserves. The convention features colony winterization workshops for northern-climate beekeepers, honey extraction and processing certification, northern Illinois queen-rearing programs, a fall honey competition and judging, and presentations on managing colonies through Illinois's variable continental climate.
