Honey Festival · July 26–27, 2031 · Petoskey, Michigan
Petoskey — the Emmet County city on Little Traverse Bay that served as Ernest Hemingway's cherished summer boyhood destination and whose Gaslight District anchors one of northern Michigan's most beloved resort communities — is surrounded by cherry orchards, maple forests, and wildflower meadows where beekeepers harvest exceptional cherry blossom, basswood, sweet clover, and high-summer wildflower honey from apiaries overlooking the turquoise waters of Little Traverse Bay. This July festival at Bayfront Park celebrates Emmet County's vibrant cherry-orchard beekeeping traditions and Hemingway's enduring connection to the northern Michigan landscape, featuring honey from producers across the Little Traverse Bay highlands and Tip of the Mitt region, guided kayak tours of Little Traverse Bay's pristine shoreline, cherry orchard farm visits showcasing the essential role of bees in Michigan's billion-dollar cherry industry, and literary programming celebrating Hemingway's Nick Adams stories set in the forests and trout streams of this extraordinary northern Michigan landscape.
