Honey Festival · May 17–18, 2029 · Silver City, New Mexico
Grant County's vibrant arts-and-outdoor gateway celebrates the extraordinary honey traditions of the Gila Wilderness and Chihuahuan Desert borderlands at this May festival. Southwestern New Mexico beekeepers showcase rare desert willow, cliffrose, catclaw acacia, mountain wildflower, and high-elevation piñon-juniper honey harvested from elevations ranging from 4,000 to over 9,000 feet in the Gila National Forest. The Gila River Bee Trail apiary tour invites visitors to observe colonies thriving in the nation's first designated Wilderness Area, while Mimbres pottery-inspired honey jar artisans and native plant specialists from Silver City's renowned arts community share the floral ecology that makes borderlands honey distinctive.
