Snake River Valley Honey & Orchard Blossom Festival 2027

Honey Festival · May 15–16, 2027 · Caldwell, Idaho

Caldwell — the western anchor of Idaho's Treasure Valley at the junction of the Boise River and Snake River plains, surrounded by one of the West's most productive irrigated agricultural regions — sits within an extraordinary honey landscape where the spring apple, cherry, pear, and stone-fruit orchard blossoms of Canyon County's 300,000+ acres of irrigated farmland give way to a summer flow of sweet clover, alfalfa, and high-desert wildflower that makes the Snake River plain one of Idaho's most productive honey-producing zones. Indian Creek Plaza's vibrant downtown Caldwell setting hosts this mid-May festival celebrating the Treasure Valley's orchard-and-apiary heritage, featuring beekeepers from Canyon, Ada, and Owyhee counties who tend hives among the valley's apple orchards, potato fields, and high-desert rangelands to produce the distinctive orchard blossom and sweet clover honeys unique to southwest Idaho's irrigated agricultural landscape. The Treasure Valley honey season follows the dramatic rhythm of Idaho's agricultural calendar: the earliest spring honeys carry the delicate flavors of cherry and pear blossom from the canyon-side orchards; summer flows bring the robust sweet clover and alfalfa honeys of the Snake River plain's vast irrigated fields; and late-season wildflower and buckwheat honeys from the Owyhee uplands add depth and complexity to the regional honey palette. The festival features orchard blossom honey tastings comparing Canyon County varietals; educational programs from the University of Idaho Extension on Treasure Valley beekeeping and orchard pollination; demonstrations of migratory beekeeping practices used for Idaho's almond and tree-fruit pollination contracts; artisan vendors featuring Idaho stone fruits, potatoes, and local artisan honeys; family programs on the critical role of honeybees in Treasure Valley fruit production; and presentations by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture on Idaho's honey industry statistics.
