South Dakota State University Extension and the South Dakota Beekeeping Association co-host this intensive multi-day beginning beekeeping academy ahead of the spring nectar flow. Curriculum spans the complete first-year beekeeping journey: acquiring package bees or nucs, first-hive installation, reading brood patterns, queen recognition, early-season feeding, and setting up for the Great Plains clover and sweet clover flows. Lectures, labs, and apiary walkthroughs at the SDSU campus.
