Stowe Green Mountains Honey & Vermont Heritage Tasting 2033

Honey Tasting · September 13–14, 2033 · Stowe, Vermont

Stowe — Vermont's ski resort capital and one of New England's most beloved mountain towns, nestled between Mount Mansfield (Vermont's highest peak at 4,393 feet) and the Lamoille River valley — anchors Lamoille County's exceptional honey landscape where the Green Mountains' forest ecology meets the Champlain Valley's agricultural bounty. Vermont's honey traditions are among New England's richest, and Stowe's mountain valley position creates a particularly diverse honey season. Basswood (Tilia americana) from the hardwood forests lining the Waterbury Reservoir and the Winooski River valley provides Vermont's most prized honey: harvested in July when linden blooms across the Green Mountain foothills, Stowe-area basswood honey is light amber with characteristic minty-lime overtones. Apple blossom from the historic orchards of the Lamoille River valley and the Cold Hollow apple belt contributes a delicate early-May flow. Wild raspberry (Rubus idaeus) from forest clearings and mountain edges provides a clean light June honey. White Dutch clover from Vermont's famous dairy farm meadows — the state has more dairy cows per capita than any other state — contributes substantially through summer. Goldenrod from the mountain meadows and hay field edges closes the season in September. Vermont has one of the highest per-capita rates of beekeepers in the nation. The tasting at Stowe Village Green — in the shadow of Mount Mansfield with the iconic white church steeple — celebrates Vermont's agricultural heritage and its exceptional mountain honey traditions.
