Beekeeping Class · March 1–2, 2028 · Laramie, Wyoming
The Wyoming Beekeepers Association's winter short course at the University of Wyoming in Laramie prepares beekeepers for the challenges and opportunities of beekeeping at high altitude in the high plains and mountain west. Wyoming's extreme climate — severe winters, short summers, and dramatic elevation changes — demands specialized management approaches that this course addresses through hands-on workshops and expert presentations. Sessions cover overwintering strategies for mountain apiaries above 7,000 feet, management for Wyoming's productive sagebrush and sweet clover landscapes, and the unique challenges of the Bighorn Basin's high-altitude honey production. The course draws participants from throughout the Intermountain West.
