This April festival at Bishop Park celebrates Clarke County's remarkable honey heritage through producers from across the Georgia Piedmont's Madison, Oconee, Jackson, and Barrow counties, competitive honey shows featuring Georgia's prized sourwood, tulip poplar, and Piedmont wildflower mono-varietals, guided tastings pairing Athens-area honey with UGA's renowned food science program's artisan products and local craft beverages, educational programs from UGA apiculture specialists on Georgia bee health and Piedmont forage ecology, and demonstrations connecting the remarkable botanical diversity of the Oconee National Forest with the distinctive flavors of northeast Georgia's celebrated local honey.
