Honey Festival · September 6–8, 2028 · Helena, Arkansas
Helena-West Helena — Arkansas's Delta gateway on the Mississippi River in Phillips County, home of the legendary King Biscuit Blues Festival and the Arkansas Delta Music Experience — sits at the heart of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain, where the Delta's flat, rich alluvial soils, the cypress-tupelo backwaters of the White River National Wildlife Refuge, and the massive agricultural fields of cotton, soybeans, sunflowers, and sweet clover that define the Arkansas Delta create one of the most productive honey-producing landscapes in the mid-South. The Arkansas Delta Honey and Blues Heritage Festival at Levee Park's scenic Mississippi River bluff celebrates the unique intersection of Delta agricultural honey traditions — particularly the region's distinctive cotton blossom, sweet clover, tallow tree, and tupelo-influenced honeys — with Helena's rich musical heritage as the birthplace of American blues radio at KFFA. Delta beekeepers from Phillips, Lee, Monroe, and Mississippi counties share their expertise in managing large-scale honey operations in the Delta's extreme heat and humidity, where the long flat landscape and minimal windbreaks create unique challenges and opportunities for both bee forage and honey production. Events include Mississippi Delta honey judging with specialty classes for cotton blossom and tallow tree varietals; guided tours of cypress-tupelo swamp habitats where tupelo honey is produced in small quantities in the Delta's backwater lakes; blues music performances celebrating the Delta's musical heritage; artisan honey vendors from across the Arkansas-Mississippi Delta; and a King Biscuit Blues-themed honey and barbecue pairing experience.
