Beekeeping Conference · January 19–20, 2028 · Sioux Falls, South Dakota
The South Dakota State Beekeepers Association's winter symposium at the Sioux Falls Convention Center addresses the unique challenges and opportunities of Great Plains beekeeping at its most extreme. South Dakota's landscape — from the Black Hills' mountain wildflower in the west to the Missouri River's agricultural corridor in the east — creates a remarkable diversity of honey production environments. Sessions cover overwintering strategies for severe High Plains winters, management for South Dakota's iconic sweet clover and alfalfa production, and pollination contract management for the state's extensive sunflower and canola crops. The honey show celebrates Great Plains varietals rarely seen at national competitions.
