Sylva Western Carolina Honey & Blue Ridge Heritage Fair 2029

Honey Fair · August 9–10, 2029 · Sylva, North Carolina

Jackson County's charming mountain town in the Tuckasegee River valley hosts this August celebration of Appalachian beekeeping traditions at the gateway to the Cherokee homeland. Western Carolina University extension beekeepers and local apiaries from Jackson, Macon, and Swain counties present sourwood, tulip poplar, black locust, rhododendron, and mountain wildflower honeys gathered from some of the Southern Appalachians' most biodiverse hollows and coves. Demonstrations include traditional bee gum log hive management, Appalachian honey whiskey tastings, and Cherokee medicinal plant and pollinator walks through the Great Smoky Mountains foothills landscape.
