Chicago beekeepers produce exceptional Midwest honey, from basswood honey in July to clover honey from surrounding farmland, along with a thriving urban rooftop honey movement.
Basswood (linden) honey (herbal-minty, the Midwest prized variety), sweet clover honey from Illinois farmland, and urban rooftop wildflower honey are Chicago's signature local varieties.
Green City Market in Lincoln Park (Saturdays and Wednesdays, May–October) is Chicago's premier honey source. Logan Square Farmers Market (Sundays, May–October) also features Illinois beekeepers.
