Tucson sits in one of North America's botanically richest beekeeping environments — Sonoran Desert mesquite bosques, palo verde forests, and Sky Island mountain meadows produce honey varieties found nowhere else.
Mesquite honey (mild, slightly smoky — Arizona's signature), palo verde honey (light, delicate, April–May spring specialty), post-monsoon wildflower honey (complex, late summer), and Sky Island mountain wildflower honey are Tucson's distinctive varieties.
Tucson Farmers Market at Rillito Regional Park (Sundays, year-round) is the city's best source. St. Philip's Plaza Farmers Market (Saturdays and Sundays) and Heirloom Farmers Markets also feature local Sonoran Desert honey producers.
