Most honey supers come off the hive at 70–95% capped. Below 80% capping, moisture content may exceed the 18.6% Codex prudent-extract floor — consider waiting or running a refractometer before extracting.

Jar counts assume honey is fully bottled with no headroom margin. Real bottling runs lose ~2–3% to drum residue, foam skim, and filter retention — round down for sales-channel planning.

Per-super context. A standard 10-frame Langstroth super, fully drawn and capped, holds about 60 lb from a deep super, 40 lb from a medium, or 30 lb from a shallow. A typical northern-US hive yields one to three honey supers per season after deducting the 2 deeps left for brood and winter stores; southern-US hives often pull four or more in a strong flow year. Beekeeper-extension surveys (USDA NASS) report a national average around 50 lb per managed colony per year, with sideline operations on good forage routinely doubling that. Variation by region, weather, and varroa pressure is large.
Method. Yield = Σ (framesk × yieldk) × fill, where yielddeep = 6 lb, yieldmedium = 4 lb, yieldshallow = 3 lb at fully drawn and fully capped state. Volume conversions use the approximate commodity weight of 11.84 lb per US gallon in USDA ERS Agricultural Handbook 697, Table 6. Dividing by four gives 2.96 lb per US quart; dividing by eight gives 1.48 lb per US pint. These are full-volume planning estimates, before headroom or bottling losses, not measurements at a specified moisture or temperature. Frame-yield anchors come from Dadant & Sons frame-yield tables, Mann Lake Bee & Ag Supply planning guides, and Sammataro & Avitabile (1998) The Beekeeper's Handbook (Cornell University Press).

For adjustable estimates, use the Honey Weight ↔ Volume Converter. It interpolates FAO Table 2.4 (credited to White, 1975a) and applies a representative temperature adjustment based on Schellart (2011). Its default 17.5% moisture and 20 °C estimate is about 1.4204 g/mL, so it can differ slightly from this tool's fixed gallon factor. Neither approach measures your honey.
