Honey Festival · April 24–25, 2027 · Fredericksburg, Texas
Fredericksburg — Gillespie County’s seat in the Texas Hill Country, the German immigrant community on the Pedernales River renowned worldwide for its wildflower season where Texas bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and the extraordinary diversity of the Edwards Plateau’s spring bloom create one of America’s most spectacular honey landscapes — hosts this spring honey and wildflower festival in the heart of the Hill Country. The Edwards Plateau limestone uplands of Gillespie, Llano, Blanco, and Mason counties support an extraordinary diversity of spring-blooming wildflowers — including the rare huajillo acacia, guajillo, mountain laurel (cenizo), retama, and the famous bluebonnet fields of Texas Highway 16 — that make the Texas Hill Country one of the nation’s most distinctive honey-producing regions, with varietals unlike anything produced elsewhere in North America. The festival features Hill Country beekeepers presenting huajillo, mountain laurel, and wildflower varietal honeys; Texas Master Beekeeper educational programs; live music and Hill Country food; peach orchard honey tastings from Gillespie County’s famous peach orchards; artisan vendors along Fredericksburg’s historic Main Street; and guided tours of Hill Country apiaries in the bluebonnet and wildflower meadows of the Edwards Plateau.
