Roswell New Mexico Honey & Agri-Heritage Expo 2027

Honey Expo · April 10–11, 2027 · Roswell, New Mexico

Roswell — Chaves County's agricultural hub in the Pecos Valley, famous worldwide for its 1947 incident but built on century-old alfalfa and artesian-water farming foundations that make it one of New Mexico's most productive honey zones — hosts this spring exposition celebrating the extraordinary mesquite, desert willow, and alfalfa honey produced in southeastern New Mexico's high-desert farmland. The Pecos River valley around Roswell is New Mexico's agricultural heartland: the Eastern New Mexico University community of Portales and the Bottomless Lakes country combine irrigated alfalfa production with the Pecos Valley's native mesquite, yucca, and desert wildflower forage to create a distinctly southeastern New Mexico honey character — lighter, more delicately floral, and differently balanced than the chamisa-and-piñon honey of northern New Mexico's high plateaus. The expo features a New Mexico regional honey tasting comparing Pecos Valley, Rio Grande, and Northern High Desert characters, alfalfa farm tours of the Pecos Valley's legendary irrigation districts, New Mexico State University Extension educational workshops on Africanized honey bee management in southeastern New Mexico, artisan honey-infused New Mexican chile and piñon product market, and competitions in natural comb honey production unique to the Pecos Valley's semi-arid landscape.
