Martinsburg Eastern Panhandle Honey & Orchard Heritage Festival 2030

Honey Festival · September 20–21, 2030 · Martinsburg, West Virginia

Martinsburg — the Berkeley County seat in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle in the lower Shenandoah Valley just south of the Potomac River — sits in one of West Virginia's most productive agricultural landscapes where apple orchards, black locust groves, basswood forest, and wildflower meadows in the lower Opequon Creek watershed support a vibrant beekeeping tradition closely linked to the Eastern Panhandle's historic fruit growing heritage. This September festival at Boarman Arts Center celebrates Berkeley and Morgan County's beekeeping traditions alongside the region's orchard heritage, featuring apple blossom and black locust honey from Eastern Panhandle beekeepers, guided tours of Martinsburg's historic downtown and connections to the B&O Railroad and Civil War history that shaped the Shenandoah Valley agricultural landscape, tastings of honey-and-apple pairings featuring West Virginia heritage apple varieties, and educational programs from Shepherd University environmental studies faculty on Shenandoah Valley pollinator corridor conservation. The festival is one of the few events in the Mid-Atlantic region to focus specifically on the bee-orchard relationship and apple blossom honey.
