The Milford Riverwalk's scenic waterfront hosts this late-September harvest festival celebrating Delaware's Delmarva honey heritage, featuring beekeepers from Kent and Sussex counties who produce the distinctive sweet clover, goldenrod, and mixed coastal plain wildflower honeys unique to the mid-Delaware Peninsula's agricultural landscape. Central Delaware's honey reflects the Delmarva Peninsula's unique ecological character: positioned between the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Delaware Bay and Atlantic coast to the east, Milford's beekeepers benefit from the maritime climate moderation that extends the honey season well into autumn, producing rich goldenrod and aster honeys with a distinctive coastal plain character unlike the honey of interior Mid-Atlantic states.
