Honey Festival · August 16–17, 2031 · Richfield, Utah
Richfield — the Sevier County seat in central Utah's Sevier River Valley, situated at 5,300 feet on the Colorado Plateau where the canyon country of Fishlake National Forest meets the Great Basin's high desert valleys, producing honey from the distinctive combination of alfalfa from irrigated valley farmland, sweet clover along the Sevier River corridor, rabbitbrush and big sagebrush from desert benches, mountain wildflower from Tushar and Fish Lake Mountain plateaus above 8,000 feet, and diverse native plants from the remarkable ecological convergence where the Great Basin, Mojave Desert, and Colorado Plateau meet — is home to a beekeeping tradition shaped by the Mormon pioneer agricultural heritage that transformed Utah's high-desert valleys into productive farmland through irrigation. This August festival at the Sevier County Fairgrounds celebrates Richfield's position as the hub of central Utah's honey country through producers from across Sevier, Piute, Wayne, and Millard counties, competitive honey shows featuring Utah's distinctive high-altitude alfalfa, sweet clover, and desert wildflower varietals, educational programs on the LDS pioneer beekeeping traditions that earned Utah its "Beehive State" nickname, guided tastings pairing central Utah honey with Sevier Valley lamb and locally produced cheese, and demonstrations connecting the ecology of Utah's canyon country pollinators with the flavors of high-desert varietal honey.
