Minneapolis sits in Minnesota's basswood belt, where linden trees lining parks and river valleys provide premium summer nectar. Twin Cities beekeepers also draw from surrounding sweet clover fields and native prairie wildflowers.
Basswood (linden) honey (the region's most prized variety — distinctively minty-herbal), sweet clover honey from prairie farmland, and fall goldenrod honey are Minneapolis's signature local varieties.
Minneapolis Farmers Market on Lyndale Avenue (daily, May–October) and Mill City Farmers Market (Saturdays, May–October) are the Twin Cities' top honey sources. St. Paul Farmers' Market (weekends, April–November) also has excellent producers.
