Lander Wind River Honey & Mountain Heritage Festival 2030

Honey Festival · August 1–2, 2030 · Lander, Wyoming

Lander — the Fremont County city at the foot of the Wind River Range in central Wyoming — occupies a transitional landscape between the Wind River Basin sagebrush steppe and the alpine peaks of Wyoming's highest mountain range, where beekeepers harvest distinctive sweet clover, alfalfa, sagebrush, alpine wildflower, and Wind River wildflower honey from apiaries that range from the river valley irrigated agriculture to the mountain meadows bordering the Shoshone National Forest. This August festival at City Park celebrates Fremont County's beekeeping traditions alongside the remarkable outdoor recreation and Native American cultural heritage of the Lander region, featuring honey from Wind River Basin producers in Fremont and Sublette Counties, guided nature walks through the Popo Agie River corridor native plant communities, presentations on Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho traditional relationships with bees and honey on the Wind River Reservation, and educational programs from the National Outdoor Leadership School on alpine ecosystem pollinator ecology. The festival draws visitors from across Wyoming and climbers and outdoor enthusiasts visiting the legendary Wind River Range.
