Lake County's summer honey celebration in Madison, home of Dakota State University, set amid the glacial lakes and pothole prairie of South Dakota's East River country. Lake Herman State Park area beekeepers produce outstanding sweet clover, alfalfa, prairie wildflower, goldenrod, and sunflower honeys from the fertile James River watershed. Features honey judging, prairie pollinator walks, DSU student beekeeping demonstrations, mead tasting, family homestead heritage activities, and celebration of the original 1880s Dakota Territory honey industry.
