Honey Fair · August 21–22, 2027 · Ely, Minnesota
The Minnesota Boundary Waters Honey & Forest Forager Fair celebrates the wild and distinctive basswood, fireweed, and boreal wildflower honeys produced near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, one of America’s most pristine natural landscapes. Held in Ely—the gateway to the BWCA—the fair pairs local honeys with foraged foods including wild mushrooms, berries, and maple syrup, exploring how northern Minnesota’s forest landscape flavors both the honey and the regional cuisine. Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association members lead demonstrations on overwintering hive management in extreme cold climates, and canoe outfitters share stories of paddling through landscapes where basswood trees stretch for miles, creating exceptional conditions for honey production.
