Sourwood honey — considered by many America's finest varietal honey — is produced almost exclusively in the Southern Appalachians where sourwood trees bloom in mid-summer. Festival features sourwood honey competition and tastings, mountain beekeeper showcases, live traditional mountain music, artisan honey craft vendors, and guided apiary tours in the Pisgah National Forest foothills.
