Manti — the historic heart of Utah's Sanpete Valley, a high-elevation agricultural basin at 5,630 feet in central Utah where Latter-day Saint pioneers settled in the 1840s and developed one of the American West's most productive agricultural landscapes beneath the dramatic backdrop of the Manti-La Sal National Forest's Wasatch Plateau: alfalfa honey from the vast irrigated alfalfa fields of Sanpete County that produce some of Utah's finest commercial honey crops, sweet clover honey from the dryland farming zones between the irrigated valley floor and the Wasatch Plateau foothills, mountain wildflower honey from the subalpine meadows and aspen groves of the Manti-La Sal National Forest where the Twelve Mile Creek and Cottonwood Creek watersheds support exceptional botanical diversity, rabbitbrush honey from the late-season Chrysothamnus blooms that color the valley's upland benches gold each September, and orchard blossom honey from the apple, cherry, and peach orchards that generations of pioneer families planted along the valley's irrigation ditches. This July festival at Manti City Park celebrates Sanpete County's extraordinary pioneer honey heritage through beekeepers from central Utah's valley communities, offering competitive honey shows featuring Utah's signature alfalfa, mountain wildflower, and rabbitbrush varietals, guided tastings of Sanpete Valley honey varieties, educational programs on beekeeping in high-desert agricultural ecosystems, and tours of the historic Manti Utah Temple that has presided over the valley since 1888.
