Tualang honey from the Nirwana label, imported and sold in the US by Apis Lux, which ships from New Jersey. Giant Asian honey bees (Apis dorsata) build open hives high in the towering rainforest trees of Peninsular Malaysia, where skilled honey hunters harvest them. The seller lists the botanical origin as wild high-canopy forest trees, including Shorea, Koompassia excelsa (the tualang tree) and Pometia pinnata, and calls it a multifloral forest honey. It is sold raw, unfiltered and cold-extracted in a 325 g glass jar. Apis Lux describes toasted caramel, molasses and black coffee notes with herbal warmth and a resinous finish. Try it over yogurt or in tea.
