Thyme honey from Crete sold under the Alfa label and imported to the US by Anthos Foods. The bees forage on wild thyme on the island's mountain slopes; the producer states at least 70% thyme pollen in the honey. It is amber, strongly fragrant and herbal, with a sharp sweetness and a warm, slightly spicy finish. It is never heated during processing, so it slowly crystallises over 8 to 18 months. It won at the 2019 Great Taste Awards and took gold at the 2019 London Honey Awards. Pour it over Greek yoghurt and walnuts, loukoumades, or baked feta, or use it in a lemon-thyme dressing.
