Raw tulip poplar honey from The Appalachian Beekeeping Collective, a non-profit project that supports beekeepers in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia. Tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) is a tall tree native to eastern and southeastern North America. The honey is dark red, and the collective calls it the most robust-tasting of its varietals. Partner beekeepers manage their hives to avoid diluting it with nectar from plants that bloom before and after the tulip poplar. Sold in 12 oz and 16 oz jars. Use it where you want a strong honey flavor, such as in black tea or with a strong cheese.
