Bee Friends Farm Black Mangrove Honey
OTHERUSAFlorida coast; black mangrove (Avicennia germinans)
Black mangrove honey from Bee Friends Farm, a Jacksonville, Florida beekeeping business started in 2013 by beekeeper Michael Leach. Black mangrove has white blossoms and grows rooted in salty water along Florida's warm coasts, and the farm notes it is one of the few saltwater plants bees collect nectar from. Bee Friends Farm sells it as a mono-floral honey and describes a rich, sweet and savory flavor, with a mellow sweetness in coffee. Sold in jars from 3 oz to 24 oz. The farm recommends it for baking, in coffee, and in barbecue sauces and marinades.
