Organic Mainalo Fir Honey

Fir honeydew honey from Mount Mainalo in Arcadia, in the central Peloponnese, packed by Arkadiko, a family beekeeping business working the area since 1981. Bees collect honeydew from the Greek fir (Abies cephalonica) forests at altitude. Mainalo fir honey is the only Greek honey with Protected Designation of Origin status and is known locally as 'vanilla' honey. It is deep brown with reddish highlights, only mildly sweet, with resinous notes, hints of caramel and a gently spicy finish. Its low glucose content means it does not crystallise, so it stays pourable for years without heating. Use it on Greek yoghurt, feta, pancakes, or in coffee.
