Wild arbutus honey sold by Laconic Foods and produced by Athanasios Manokas & Son, a fourth-generation beekeeping family, on the slopes of Taygetos Mountain in Laconia, in Greece's Peloponnese. The nectar comes from the wild strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo). The seller describes it as dark amber and full-bodied, boldly bitter and herbal with a subtle sweetness and a smooth, lingering finish. It is cold-extracted, unfiltered and never heat-treated, and sold in a single 315 g glass jar. Pair it with aged or soft cheeses, swirl it into Greek yogurt with walnuts or tahini, or use a little in glazes for roast meat.
